I have carefully considered your petition to add DRAM 303 (W23) after the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to deny your request.
As you know, courses must be added on SOLUS within the published deadlines. The deadlines for adding courses have been designed and established to provide sufficient time for students to obtain the relevant permission, determine their interest in the course material, to consider their ability to handle each course, and to evaluate their overall workload. Appeal and Petition Regulation 3.3.1.1. states that ??a petition to add a class late must have support from the Undergraduate Chair of the relevant department and from the class instructor.?
I recognize that you experienced a health issues during the month of January and were not able to add this course by the academic deadline, however, I want to remind you that DRAM 303 is not a required course for the program/plan that you are registered to in SOLUS. I also see that you are currently on probation. As you know, your academic standing will be assessed in May of 2023 and that you need to raise your cumulative GPA to a minimum of a 1.6 to avoid being required to withdraw. I am concerned that enrolling in a 300-level elective this late in the Winter term would not be beneficial to you as instructors are not obligated to accommodate students due to late enrolment. I have denied this request due to your current academic standing and the recent failures that I see from your prior 3 terms.
I understand that this is a disappointing decision however, I encourage you to meet with an Academic Advisor to discuss your current academic standing and create an academic plan to help you reach your goals.
