I want you to know that this was a lenient decision as your extenuating circumstances began well before the academic drop deadline of the Winter term. I have granted this request as I recognize that this is your first year at University. Going forward it is your responsibility to assess your progress in your courses prior to the academic drop deadline of each term and to drop courses that you have fallen behind in or find the material too difficult in by week 8 of the term. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the ??Important Dates? section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students.
Another tool to manage your academics in addition to dropping a course by the drop deadline is to utilize Academic Consideration as soon as an unexpected circumstance begins to impact your academic ability.
