Dear Vansh,
As part of the standard process when appealing to the Board of Studies, the Associate Dean (Academic) reviews your appeal submission. I have carefully considered your appeal to drop CISC 235 and CISC 223 (Winter 2023). Given the strong and clear support from your doctor who asserted that you were impacted during the timeline being appealed, I am compelled to grant this appeal. Given that the document dated 22 March 2023 from Dr. Ul-Haque attests to a new treatment regime, this provides evidence of extenuating circumstances. I appreciate that you made an effort prior to the drop date to seek support for this issue. For this reason, I am willing to allow late drop for the two relevant courses CISC 235 and CISC 223 (W23).
Going forward, no further petitions will be granted based on these same circumstances. You are encouraged to make use of appropriate resources and with QSAS if academic accommodations are needed.
I encourage you to carefully evaluate your progress in each of your courses prior to the week 8 drop deadline and if you have fallen behind or you are not performing in courses to your satisfaction, you should drop courses by the drop deadline.
Another tool to manage your academics in addition to dropping a course by the drop date deadline is our Academic Consideration protocol. A student can request short term consideration if they need more time to complete an assignment or had to miss a class due to documented extenuating circumstances. Here is the link for information about that process:

Your transcript will be updated to reflect the dropped courses.
Yours sincerely,
Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
