I have carefully considered your petition to add CLST 205 and PHAR 100 (S23) after the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to deny your request.
As you know, courses must be added on SOLUS within the published deadlines. The deadlines for adding courses have been designed and established to provide sufficient time for students to obtain the relevant permission, determine their interest in the course material, to consider their ability to handle each course, and to evaluate their overall workload. The Academic Petitions and Appeals Regulation 1.1 at https://www.queensu.ca/academic-calendar/arts-science/appeal-regulations/ stress that petitions and appeals are only granted where there are significant extenuating circumstances, which would merit the waiving of a particular Faculty regulation or decision.
I want to remind you that Summer term courses are condensed and based on your academic record Caitlin, I am not comfortable approving this late add petition. Courses offered during this term are fast paced and if a student is already behind before they are added, it is very difficult to catch up. I understand that this is a disappointing decision and suggest you consider registering for these courses again during the Fall/Winter academic year if you wish.
