As you know, courses must be added on SOLUS within the published deadlines. The deadlines for adding courses have been designed and established to provide sufficient time for students to obtain the relevant permission, determine their interest in the course material, to consider their ability to handle each course, and to evaluate their overall workload. The Academic Petitions and Appeals Regulation 1.1 at https://www.queensu.ca/academic-calendar/arts-science/appeal-regulations/ stress that petitions and appeals are only granted where there are significantly extenuating circumstances, which would merit the waiving of a particular Faculty regulation or decision.
I want to remind you that Summer term courses are condensed and fast-paced and an instructor is not obligated to accommodate for late enrolment. The instructor of this course did not strongly support your request as this course is already well underway. I understand that this is a disappointing decision as I acknowledge the financial implications of not being enrolled in a Summer term course.
