Dear Tracy,

As part of the standard process when appealing to the Board of Studies, the Associate Dean (Academic) reviews your appeal submission. I have carefully considered your appeal to drop GEOL 107 and receive credit standing in PHYS 115 (Fall 2022). The documentation provided is not as comprehensive as I would like to see, but I am persuaded by your letter that you were unable to access better documentation in a timely fashion. I am compelled to grant this appeal.

Going forward, I encourage you to carefully evaluate your progress in each of your courses prior to the week 8 drop deadline and if you have fallen behind or you are not performing in courses to your satisfaction, you should drop courses by the drop deadline.

As you know, another tool to manage your academics in addition to dropping a course by the drop date deadline is our Academic Consideration protocol. A student can request short term consideration if they need more time to complete an assignment or had to miss a class due to documented extenuating circumstances. Here is the link for information about that process:

Your transcript will be updated to reflect the changes to these two courses.

Yours sincerely,

Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Academic)
