I have reviewed your petition to drop ARTF 101 (S23) after the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.
For your information: our office will process the late drop in your SOLUS account and no further action from you is required. Once dropped, the course will appear as “withdrawn” in your schedule and a “DR” notation will be placed on your transcript once the Summer term grades are posted.
I want you to know that this was a lenient decision as competing commitments such as a Summer job is not considered to be an unexpected extenuating circumstance. I have granted this request due to the severity and academic impacts of your health-related extenuating circumstances as confirmed by the documentation you supplied. I acknowledge the ongoing nature of your circumstances and that you were advised to reduce your course load by your health care provider. I suggest that you consider registering with Queen’s Student Accessibility Services (QSAS) if you have not done so already, so that you obtain ongoing support from a Counsellor who can help manage the impact of your health on your academics.
Upon your return to studies in the Fall term, it is your responsibility to pause and evaluate the impact of extenuating circumstances on your classes during week 7 of the term. If you have fallen behind in a course or find the material too difficult, you should drop the course by week 8 of term. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the “Important Dates” section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure fair and equitable treatment of all students.
Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
