Dear Gabriella:
I was sorry to read of the extenuating circumstances you outlined in your petition letter, and I have reviewed your request to drop ENGL 277, ENGL 294 (F 2022); PSYC 203, PSYC 236, PSYC 221, PSYC 251 (W 2023); and ENGL 200 (FW 2022/23) after the drop deadline, as well as receive credit standing in PSYC 271 and ENGL 284 (F 2022). After careful consideration of the documentation you submitted, and the information supplied by your instructors about the learning outcomes achieved in PSYC 271 and ENGL 284, I have decided to grant your petition.
Your grades in PSYC 271 and ENGL 284 will be changed to a CR notation on your transcript, indicating credit standing. Your grades in ENGL 277, ENGL 294, PSYC 203, PSYC 236, PSYC 221, PSYC 251, ENGL 200 will be changed to DR notations, indicating that those courses have been dropped late.
Going forward, you will be responsible for managing the impact of your condition on your academics proactively and not after the fact via the petition process. I encourage you to carefully evaluate your progress in each of your courses prior to the week 8 drop deadline and if you have fallen behind or you are not performing in courses to your satisfaction, you should drop courses by the drop deadline. Future petitions based on these same circumstances will not be granted in the future.
Another tool to manage your academics in addition to dropping a course by the drop date deadline is our Academic Consideration protocol. A student can request short term consideration if they need more time to complete an assignment or had to miss a class due to documented extenuating circumstances. Here is the link for information about that process:

Gabriella, I encourage you to continue to work with your health care professional and your QSAS Advisor who can help you manage the impact of your health on your academics.
Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
Best of luck next year.
Yours sincerely,
Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
