Dear Lily:
I have reviewed your request to complete courses on an International Letter of Permission for your BA (Honours) degree with a Major concentration in Film and Media, and a Certificate in Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Creativity in Barcelona at Universitat Autònoma De Barcelona. As you know, Regulation 14.4 indicates that “[normally] the last two years of the Honours degree are taken in the Faculty of Arts and Science at Queen’s.” However, given the circumstances explained in your petition letter of appeal, and your thoughtful overview of the courses you plan to register in, I agree to this request. Please continue to consult with your department to ensure that the courses you finally select to register in will properly fulfill the Queen’s requirements for your degree.
Lily, please note that Academic Regulation 16.4.3 indicates that no more than 50 percent of the units in the certificate or diploma may be transfer credits (grade of TR) from outside of Queen’s so when planning your course requirements to complete your certificate, please keep this in mind.
You must now apply for an International Letter of Permission through the International Programs Office. Please allow up to 21 days to receive a response.
Note that official transcripts with final grades must be received by the International Programs Office (IPO) upon completion of the courses so they can facilitate the transfer of those courses to Queen’s. Please keep in mind that you must achieve a minimum grade of C on each course taken on a Letter of Permission, unless stated otherwise.
Finally, please be advised that a student can complete a maximum of 57.0 transfer units towards their BA Honours degree (see Academic Regulation 16.1.3).
I wish you well in your studies while attending university in Barcelona as well as the remainder of your studies at Queen’s.
Yours sincerely,
Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
