Your grade in these courses will be replaced with a ‘CR’ notation on your transcript.
I want you to know that this was a lenient decision as according to the information that I received from each of your instructors, it appears that you failed the exams in these courses quite significantly. I have granted this request due to the severity of your extenuating circumstances as confirmed within the documentation you supplied and that I recognize that this was your first year of University. Please know that future petitions for these same circumstances may not be as successful.
Going forward you should know that it is the student’s responsibility to pause and evaluate the impact of extenuating circumstances on their classes during week 7 of the term. If they have fallen behind in a course or find the material too difficult, they should drop the course by week 8 of term. The drop deadlines, outlined in the “Important Dates” section on the Faculty of Arts and Science web page, have been established to ensure fair and equitable treatment of all students.
