I want you to know that this was a lenient decision as the documentation that you supplied indicates that the impacts of your extenuating circumstances began before the July 10 drop deadline. I also notice that you were enrolled in 12.0 units of courses in the 2023 Summer term. This is a very heavy load. Please know that as Summer term courses are condensed and fast-paced it is not recommended that students take more 6.0 units during that term.
Your grades in BIOL 102 and PSYC 100 (S23) will be replaced with a “DR” notation on your transcript.
Going forward you should know that it is the student’s responsibility to pause and evaluate the impact of extenuating circumstances on their classes before the drop deadline of the term. If they have fallen behind in a course or find the material too difficult, they should drop the course by the deadline. The drop deadlines, outlined in the “Important Dates” section on the Faculty of Arts and Science web page, have been established to ensure fair and equitable treatment of all students.
