Dear Phoenix King,

I have reviewed your petition to drop ECON 110 (FW22/23), DEVS 102, EMPR 110, STAT 263 (W23), FREN 106, FRST 105 and SPAN 111 (S23) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

Your grade in these courses will be replaced with a ‘DR’ notation on your transcript.

I acknowledge that you did not receive support from Student Wellness Services until April 25, 2023 and I have granted this request due to the timeline, severity and academic impacts of your extenuating circumstances as confirmed by the documentation you supplied.

Phoenix, I want to let you know that the appeals process is not meant to be used to manage a chronic condition. Going forward, it is your responsibility to pause and evaluate the impact of extenuating circumstances on your classes during week 7 of the term. If you have fallen behind in a course or find the material too difficult, you should drop the course by week 8 of term. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the “Important Dates” section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure fair and equitable treatment of all students.

I also suggest that you remain connected with Queen’s Student Accessibility Services (QSAS) for ongoing support to help manage the impacts of your health on your academics.
