I have carefully considered your petition to drop POLS 250, POLS 261 (F22), PHIL 111, PHIL 115 (FW22/23), PHIL 256, PHIL 275 and SOCY 235 (W23) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I have granted this request due to the timeline and academic impacts of your extenuating circumstances as confirmed by the documentation that you supplied. Your grades in these courses will be replaced with a DR notation on your transcript.

Meah, I want you to know that this was a lenient decision as the petition process is not meant to be used to manage a chronic condition. It is the student’s responsibility to pause and evaluate the impact of extenuating circumstances on their classes during week 7 of the term. If they have fallen behind in a course or find the material too difficult, they should drop the course by week 8 of term. The drop deadlines, outlined in the “Important Dates” section on the Faculty of Arts and Science web page, have been established to ensure fair and equitable treatment of all students.

I would suggest that you consider registering with Queen’s Student Accessibility Services (QSAS) if you have not done so already, so that you obtain ongoing support from a Counsellor who can help manage the impact of your health on your academics.
