Dear Bradley:

I have carefully considered your petition to drop CHEM 212 (F23) past the academic deadline and for Credit Standing in BCHM 218 and BIOL 243 (F23). After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

Your grades in these courses will be replaced with a DR or CR notation on your transcript accordingly.

I acknowledge that you have reduced your courseload for the 2024 Winter term and I have granted this request due to the timeline of your extenuating circumstances as confirmed within the documentation that you supplied. Going forward, I suggest that you consider registering with Queen’s Student Accessibility Services (QSAS) if you have not done so already, so that you obtain ongoing support from a Counsellor who can help manage the ongoing impacts of your health on your academics.

I also want you to know that it is the student’s responsibility to pause and evaluate the impact of extenuating circumstances on their classes during week 7 of the term. If they have fallen behind in a course or find the material too difficult, they should drop the course by week 8 of term. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the “Important Dates” section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure fair and equitable treatment of all students.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
