I was sorry to read about the passing of your friend and I want to offer you my condolences. I have carefully considered your petition to drop PHIL 250 (FW22/23), PHIL 256, PHIL 275 (W23) and LAW 202 (S23) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.
I acknowledge that you were provided with Incomplete Grades in your 2023 Winter term courses by your instructors and I have granted this request due to the timeline, severity and academic impacts of extenuating circumstances during the 2023 Summer term as confirmed by the documentation that you supplied. I will also allow you to drop PHIL 260 (W23) as I acknowledge that this course was also impacted by these circumstances.
Your grades in these courses will be replaced with a DR notation on your transcript.
Going forward, it is the student’s responsibility to pause and evaluate the impact of extenuating circumstances on their classes during week 7 of the term. If they have fallen behind in a course or find the material too difficult, they should drop the course by week 8 of term. The drop deadlines, outlined in the “Important Dates” section on the Faculty of Arts and Science web page, have been established to ensure fair and equitable treatment of all students.
