Dear James,

I have carefully considered your petition to drop LAW 201, CLST 207, HIST (W23), HIST 242, HIST 270, and LLCU 213 (F23) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

Your grades in these courses will be replaced with a DR notation on your transcript.

I want you to know that this was a lenient decision as the documentation that you supplied suggests that the impacts of your extenuating circumstances occurred prior to the drop deadline of these terms. I have granted this request as the documentation that you supplied suggest a need for considerations. I would suggest that you consider registering with Queen’s Student Accessibility Services (QSAS) if you have not done so already, so that you obtain ongoing support from a Counsellor who can help manage the ongoing impacts of your health on your academics.

Going forward, it is the student’s responsibility to pause and evaluate the impact of extenuating circumstances on their classes during week 7 of the term. If they have fallen behind in a course or find the material too difficult, they should drop the course by week 8 of term. The drop deadlines, outlined in the “Important Dates” section on the Faculty of Arts and Science web page, have been established to ensure fair and equitable treatment of all students.
