Dear Darien:

I have carefully considered your petition request to drop CLST 103, LLCU 248 and PHIL 233 (W24) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I have granted this request due to the timeline, severity and academic impacts of extenuating circumstances as confirmed within the documentation that you supplied. I will also allow you to drop CLST 131 (F23) without requiring a subsequent appeal, as I recognize that the documentation that you supplied also confirms academic impacts during the 2023 Fall term.

Your grades in CLST 131 (F23), CLST 103, LLCU 248, PHIL 233 (W24) will be replaced by a DR notation on your transcript once the drops have been processed. These late drops will also remove the Faculty ruling that you be Required to Withdraw so that you may continue your studies at Queen’s University for the 2024/2025 academic year.

I would suggest that you consider registering with Queen’s Student Accessibility Services (QSAS) if you have not done so already, so that you obtain ongoing support from a Counsellor who can help manage the ongoing impacts of your health on your academics.

Going forward, you should make every effort to check your schedule in SOLUS as well as to inform yourself of the academic regulations concerning deadlines as they are outlined in the "Important Dates" section on the Arts and Science web website and to ensure that courses that you do not intend to complete are dropped on SOLUS successfully before the posted drop deadline.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
