Dear Serafim Kotyarov:

I have carefully considered your petition to drop KNPE 251, KNPE 261, and KNPE 265 (F23) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I have granted this request due to the timeline, severity and academic impacts of extenuating circumstances as confirmed within the documentation that you supplied. I will also allow you to drop ANAT 315 and HLTH 252 (F23) after the academic deadline as I recognize from the documentation that you supplied that these courses were also impacted by extenuating circumstances. Your grades in these courses will be replaced with a DR notation on your transcript.

Going forward, I would suggest that you consider registering with Queens Student Accessibility Services QSAS (if you haven’t done so already) so that you can be connected with an Accessibility Advisor who can help manage the ongoing impacts of your health on your academics.

Also, it is the student’s responsibility to pause and evaluate the impact of extenuating circumstances on their classes during week 7 of the term. If they have fallen behind in a course or find the material too difficult, they should drop the course by week 8 of term. The drop deadlines, outlined in the “Important Dates” section on the Faculty of Arts and Science web page, have been established to ensure fair and equitable treatment of all students.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
