Alyisha, I want you to know that this was a lenient decision as competing commitments such as working a job while taking courses, is not typically grounds for a petition request.
I acknowledge that the documentation that you supplied suggests a recent health diagnosis and so I have granted this request due to the timeline and academic impacts of this extenuating circumstance. Your grade in this course will be replaced with a DR notation on your transcript.
Going forward, I would suggest that you consider registering with Queen’s Student Accessibility Services (QSAS) if you have not done so already, so that you obtain ongoing support from an Accessibility Advisor who can help manage the ongoing impacts of your health on your academics.
Also, it is the student’s responsibility to pause and evaluate the impact of extenuating circumstances on their classes during week 7 of the term. If they have fallen behind in a course or find the material too difficult, they should drop the course by week 8 of term. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the “Important Dates” section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure fair and equitable treatment of all students.
Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding.
