I have carefully considered your petition for Credit Standing in BIOL 330 (F23), BIOL 322 and BIOL 341 (W24). After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I have granted this request due to the timeline and academic impacts of extenuating circumstances as confirmed within the documentation you supplied. Your grades in these courses will be replaced with a CR notation on your transcript.

Matteo, I recognize that you had also requested Credit Standing in BIOL 339 (F23) and that this course was removed from your petition request. I want you to know that I can’t consider this request as the instructor of the course had offered you an academic remedy for which you accepted, leaving the final exam unwritten.

Going forward, I would suggest that you consider registering with Queen’s Student Accessibility Services (QSAS) if you have not done so already, so that you obtain ongoing support from an Accessibility Advisor who can help manage the ongoing impacts of your health on your academics.

Also, it is the student’s responsibility to pause and evaluate the impact of extenuating circumstances on their classes before the drop deadline of the term. If they have fallen behind in a course or find the material too difficult, they should drop the course by the deadline. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the “Important Dates” section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure fair and equitable treatment of all students.
