I have granted this request due to the timeline, severity and impacts of extenuating circumstances as confirmed within the documentation that you supplied. I will also allow you to drop PHYS 115 (F23) after the academic deadline as I acknowledge that your academic ability in this course was also impacted by these circumstances.
Your grades in these courses will be replaced with a CR or DR notation on your transcript accordingly.
I would suggest that you consider registering with Queen’s Student Accessibility Services (QSAS) if you have not done so already, so that you obtain ongoing support from a Counsellor who can help manage the ongoing impacts of your health on your academics.
Going forward, I want you to know that it is the students’ responsibility to pause and evaluate the impact of extenuating circumstances on their classes during week 7 of the term. If they have fallen behind in a course or find the material too difficult, they should drop the course by week 8 of term. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the “Important Dates” section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure fair and equitable treatment of all students.
Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding.
