Thank you for your petition requesting to drop PSYC 377 (F23), ARTH 214, PSYC 351 and ARTH 275 (W24) after the academic deadline, for Credit Standing in PSYC 435 (W24) and for Aegrotat Standing in ARTH 203 and PSYC 366 (F23). I have carefully reviewed your request and the supporting documentation that you supplied, and while I’m unable to grant all of these requests, I want to assure you that I’ve taken your circumstances into account as part of this decision.
I will allow you to drop PSYC 377 (F23), ARTH 214, PSYC 351 and ARTH 275 (W24) after the academic deadline, Credit Standing in PSYC 435 (W24) and Aegrotat Standing in ARTH 203 (F23). I have granted this request due to the timeline, severity and academic impacts of extenuating circumstances as confirmed within the documentation that you supplied.
Your grades in PSYC 377 (F23), ARTH 214, PSYC 351 and ARTH 275 (W24) and PSYC 435 (W24) will be replaced with a DR or CR notation on your transcript accordingly. The instructor of ARTH 203 (F23) has submitted a grade of C based on the work that you completed in this course which will appear on your transcript with the notation Aegrotat: estimated grade.
In regard to your request for Aegrotat Standing in PSYC 366 (F23), according to the Academic Appeal and Petition Regulation 3.3.1.3, Aegrotat Standing is intended for students who, due to illness or other significant extenuating circumstances, are unable to complete all the work for a course. To be eligible, at least 60% of the course’s components (assignments, midterms, labs, final exams, etc.) must be completed.
Unfortunately, after consulting with the instructor of PSYC 366 (F23), it has been confirmed that you did complete enough of the course components to be able to provide you with an Aegrotat estimated grade. It is my understanding that you did not complete some quizzes, some mini assignments, the essay draft and the final essay.
That said, I understand the challenges you have faced, and I do recognize the academic impact of extenuating circumstances that you experienced during the 2023 Fall term. As a result, I offer you the opportunity to drop PSYC 366 (F23) after the academic deadline instead which would replace your current grade with a DR notation on your transcript. If you would like to take advantage of this opportunity, please reach out to asc.petitions@queensu.ca within 15 business days of receiving this letter.
