Dear Ms. Mendes:

I have carefully considered your appeal to drop DRAM 210B (W 2011), DRAM 202, DRAM 319 (W 2012), GNDS 340, GNDS 440 (W 2013), GNDS 326 and GPHY 257 (W 2014) past the academic deadline, receive Aegrotat standing in DRAM 251 (F 2010), DRAM 311 (F 2011), GNDS 351, HIST 258 (W 2012), GNDS 428 (F 2012) and GNDS 375 (W 2014) and Credit standing in DRAM 201 (F 2011) as well as receive an extension of your incomplete grade in GNDS 345 (F 2012). After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

As a result of these grade changes, the Academic Probation ruling from May 15, 2013 and the €œContinuing on Academic Probation€ ruling from May 22, 2014 will be removed from your transcript.

I have also considered your request to complete the remaining credits of your B.A. (Honours) degree with a Major plan in Gender Studies and Minor Plan in Drama at another University. As you know, Regulation 14.4 indicates that €œnormally the last two years of the Honours degree are taken in the Faculty of Arts and Science at Queen€™s.€ However, given the circumstances explained in your letter of appeal, and the support of the Gender Studies Department, I agree to this request. Please consult with your department regularly to ensure that the courses you select at your visiting university will properly fulfill the Queen€™s requirements for your degree.

I would remind you to review the Academic Regulation 14 governing the taking of courses at other educational institutions. In particular, note that before you take these courses you must submit a Letter of Permission application to ensure that the courses requested will count at Queen€™s. You can obtain an application form at http://www.queensu.ca/artsci/student-forms Please include course descriptions with your application form as well as the application fee http://www.queensu.ca/artsci/student-forms (click on the €œpay now button€) It may take up to three weeks to receive your letter of permission.

According to your Academic Advisement Report, it appears that you still require (assuming that you successfully complete GNDS 345):

21.0 units from GNDS; GNDS_Options

9.0 units in DRAM; DRAM substitutions at any level

Note that official transcripts with final grades must be received by the Faculty of Arts and Science Office by 15 May to be considered for graduation at Spring Convocation, or by 15 October for Fall Convocation. Finally, please keep in mind that you must achieve a minimum grade of C on each course taken on a Letter of Permission, unless stated otherwise.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding.
