Associate Dean: J. Hugh Horton, Ph.D.
Student Name: Patrick Hoy
Student Email: 4ph2@queensu.ca

Course: HIST 241
Term: Winter
Year: 2014
Category: Drop a course after the academic deadline

Dear Mr. Hoy:

I have carefully considered your appeal to drop HIST 241 (W 2014) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

Please ensure that for the future, you schedule an appointment to meet with me well before the course selection period in July (I would suggest early July) so we can review your academic progress to date. I will be hesitant to approve more than a one course per term load until your condition is more stable. You may schedule an appointment through my Assistant, Katie, by contacting her at f2deans@queensu.ca.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

I am confident that in the future you will make every effort to inform yourself of the academic regulations concerning deadlines as they are outlined in Upcoming Dates Section on the Arts and Science web page. These deadlines have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students and to facilitate the timely completion of university studies at Queen's.

Yours sincerely,

J. Hugh Horton, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Studies)
