I was sorry to read of the passing of your friends and I want to offer my condolences. I have carefully considered your petition to drop PSYC 271, PSYC 321 (F23), SOCY 304 and SOCY 426 (W24) past the academic deadline and for Credit Standing in PSYC 337 (W24). After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I have granted this petition due to the academic impacts of extenuating circumstances as reported within your petition letter. Your grades in these courses will be replaced with a DR or CR notation on your transcript accordingly.

Going forward, it is the student’s responsibility to pause and evaluate the impact of extenuating circumstances on their classes before the drop deadline of the term. If they have fallen behind in a course or find the material too difficult, they should drop the course by the deadline. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the “Important Dates” section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure fair and equitable treatment of all students.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding.
