Dear Charlie Purcell:

I have reviewed your petition to take more than 6.0 units at another institution on a Letter of Permission during the 2024/2025 academic year. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

As you know, Regulation 14.1 indicates that a student on a degree program in the Faculty of Arts and Science may be permitted to take up to 6.0 units of undergraduate classes elsewhere for credit toward a degree offered by the Faculty of Arts and Science via a Letter of Permission.

I understand that you have received a Letter of Permission for 6.0 units of ECON courses through Athabasca. As requested, I will allow you to apply for 3.0 units of electives at Athabasca University for the 2025 Winter term so that you can meet your degree requirements by your expected graduation date. Please know that students can take a maximum of 18.0 units per term, including courses taken at other institutions.

It is important to note that some institutions are not eligible for a Letter of Permission and not all courses are eligible for transfer credits. It is your responsibility to apply for a Letter of Permission through SOLUS and receive approval before applying to the host institution.

Finally, please be advised that Bachelor of Arts General students are allowed a maximum of 42.0 transfer units toward their academic program and a maximum of 12.0 transfer units toward their plan.

I wish you well in your studies this year,

Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
