Thank you for your petition regarding Credit Standing in PSYC 236 (F23). I have carefully reviewed your request and the supporting documentation that you supplied, and while I’m unable to grant your petition, I want to assure you that I’ve taken your circumstances into account as part of this decision.
According to the Academic Appeal and Petition Regulation 3.3.1.4. Credit standing is reserved for a course in which a student who has completed all of the work of the class, including the final examination, and achieved a passing grade in the class, but due to illness or other extenuating circumstances beyond their control, earned a substantially lower grade than might have been expected.
I acknowledge the severity of the extenuating circumstances that you experienced during the 2023 Winter term as confirmed within the documentation that you supplied. After consulting with the instructor of PSYC 236 however, it was found that you did not complete a 15% case study paper and so you are not eligible for Credit Standing in this course.
That said, I understand that the instructor of this course is not available to facilitate allowing you to complete the outstanding component during the current 2025 Winter term and so I am willing to allow you Aegrotat Standing in PSYC 236 (F23) instead. The instructor has submitted a replacement grade of C based only on the 85% of the course that you were able to complete which will appear on your transcript along with the notation Aegrotat: estimated grade. If you would like to accept this offer, please email asc.petitions@queensu.ca within 15 business days of receiving this letter.
