I have granted this request due to the ongoing academic impacts of extenuating circumstances during these terms as reported within your petition letter. I will also allow you to drop ARTH 226, FILM 312, SOCY 309 (F16), GNDS 215, SOCY 227, SOCY 235, SOCY 384 (W17), CLST 205, HIST 245, SOCY 284, SOCY 344 (F17), FILM 236, HIST 211, and SOCY 300 (W18) after the academic deadline, without having to submit a subsequent petition. Your grades in these courses will be replaced with a DR notation on your transcript.
Going forward, it is the student’s responsibility to pause and evaluate the impact of extenuating circumstances on their classes prior to the drop deadline of the term. If they have fallen behind in a course or find the material too difficult, they should drop the course by the deadline. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the “Important Dates” section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure fair and equitable treatment of all students.
Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
