Dear Mr. Grimes:
I have carefully considered your appeal to request a review of your instructor€™s decision on your grades assigned on your discussion forums, podcast assignment and essay 2 in RELS 131 (S 2015). After reviewing your file I have decided to deny your request.
As part of my assessment I reviewed your letter and explanation for why you felt the grades assigned for these assignments were unfair. Our office also consulted with the instructor, Dr. LaGrone, concerning these issues and reviewed the results of her informal re-read of these assignments.
Dr. LaGrone personally re-read your discussion forums, podcast assignment and essay 2 and this resulted in two final grade increases €“ first to B- after the regrade of your second essay and then to B after the regrade of your discussion forum marks. I am satisfied that the instructor has remedied the concerns that you addressed in your letter through this informal re-read. I am also satisfied that your final grade of B in RELS 131 was assigned fairly; therefore I do not find that there are any grounds to pursue a formal re-read.
If you wish to appeal the Associate Dean€™s decision to the Board of Studies, you must submit an appeal to the Board of Studies within 21 days of the date this decision was sent.
