Dear Gabrielle Stan:

I have carefully considered your request to waive the petition deadline related to the 2011 Winter, 2011 Fall, 2012 Fall and 2013 Winter terms. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

According to Academic Appeals and Petitions regulation 1.5.2. exceptions to the petition deadlines can only be granted in cases where extenuating circumstances beyond a student’s control render the student unable to submit a petition or appeal within the specified timeline.

I have granted this request due to the reasons outlined in your petition letter. As the documentation that you supplied confirms academic impacts from extenuating circumstances during the 2011 Fall, 2012 Fall and 2013 Winter terms, I will also allow you to drop FREN 325, FREN 351 (F11), FREN 424, FREN 488 (F12), FREN 333, FREN 390, and FREN 493 (W13) without submitting an additional petition. Your grades in these courses will be replaced with a DR notation on your transcript.

If you return to the Faculty of Arts and Science as a post-degree student, you should know that it is your responsibility to pause and evaluate the impact of extenuating circumstances on your coursework prior to the drop deadline of the term. If you fall behind in a course or find the material too difficult, you should drop the course by deadline. The drop deadlines, outlined in the “Important Dates” section on the Faculty of Arts and Science web page, have been established to ensure fair and equitable treatment of all students.

Sincerely,

Dorit Naaman, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Academic)
