Dear Lauren Fields,
I have carefully considered your request for Credit Standing in GLPH 385 (S25) and while I’m unable to grant your petition, I want to assure you that I’ve taken your circumstances into account as part of this decision.
According to the Academic Appeal and Petition Regulation 1.7.1.4 Credit standing is reserved for a course in which a student who has completed all of the work of the class, including the final examination, and achieved a passing grade in the class, but due to illness or other extenuating circumstances beyond their control, earned a substantially lower grade than might have been expected.
I acknowledge the extenuating circumstances that you reported in your petition letter however after consulting with the instructor of GLPH 385 (S25), it was found that you did not complete Quiz 1 or Peer Evaluation and Reflection 1, and so you are not eligible for Credit Standing in this course.
That said, I understand that you have recently graduated and so cannot return to complete the outstanding components in the course. I am therefore willing to allow you Aegrotat Standing in GLPH 385 (S25) instead. A replacement grade of B plus based only on the 87% of the course that you were able to complete can replace the existing grade on your transcript along with the notation Aegrotat: estimated grade.
