I have carefully considered your petition to drop POLS 111 (F25) after the academic deadline and for Credit Standing in ANAT 100 (F25). While I’m unable to grant both of these requests, I want to assure you that your circumstances were reviewed thoughtfully and with care as part of the decision-making process.
After reviewing your petition letter and the documentation provided, I am able to grant your request to drop POLS 111 (F25) after the academic deadline. Your final grade in this course will be replaced with a DR notation on your transcript once this has been processed by the Office of the University Registrar.
With respect to your request for Credit Standing in ANAT 100 (F25), Academic Appeal and Petition Regulation 1.7.1.4 states that Credit Standing is reserved for a course in which a student who has completed all of the work of the class, including the final examination, and achieved a passing grade in the class, but due to illness or other extenuating circumstances beyond their control, earned a substantially lower grade than might have been expected.
I acknowledge the health-related challenges you described in your petition letter and understand how these circumstances had a direct impact on your academic performance during the 2025 Fall term. I also appreciate the documentation you provided and am glad to hear that you are receiving appropriate supports.
While I do empathize with your situation, your grading record for this course indicates that you did not complete three graded components: Block Theory 2, Lab Practical 2 and Block Theory 3, which together account for 36% of the final grade. As not all graded components of ANAT 100 (F25) were completed, you are not eligible for Credit Standing in this course under the regulation.
If you are concerned with the impact that your final grade in this course has on your GPA, I would suggest that you consider repeating it in a future term. When repeating the same course code, both attempts will appear on your transcript however, only the higher grade will be included within the calculation of your cumulative GPA.
