Academic Plan
I have been working hard on a plan to achieve academic success this semester and going forward in my undergraduate career in general.
As I had been working on all the coursework last semester, I am very fortunate that my professors from the last term have granted me incomplete status and the opportunity to submit my work. We have agreed to finalize all work by the end of this week. The work is finished, so that will have no influence on my ability to catch up this week if I am fortunate enough to have late additions granted.
The most significant challenge is making sure that I do not fall behind, but rather catch up and stay ahead in the courses that I can hopefully be enrolled in this semester. Potentially enrolling in four courses this semester, rather than five, allows me to lower my course load and work at my best academic ability. I understand that there are numerous reasons for a strict add deadline to be in place as it becomes especially difficult for students to work backwards and catch up. That being said, I am very aware of the decisions I am making and truly believe that it is in my best interest to enroll in courses this semester and work hard to succeed in them.
If given the opportunity to enroll in courses this semester, I have a very sound plan to recover from the initial weeks that I have lost. The first step is reaching out to each professor and making sure they are aware of my initiative and academic plan for their course. This will include a date within one week of admittance, or at the professor's discretion, that I will turn in all deliverables I may have missed. I believe two weeks from the date of admittance is appropriate to get caught up in each class in terms of course material, as much time beyond then does not allow me to be present in the course as early as possible. Whatever support provided by my professors, such as drop-in sessions and office hours, will be used to my advantage in catching up as well as going forward this semester.
My personal condition of course plays a role in my academic ability. This situation is ongoing and not one that can be solved, however, my family and I are at a place in which we can continue to succeed, despite some tough circumstances. I have created an academic, financial and personal plan with my family that allows me to achieve my goals.
From a high-level view, I will be in good standing to complete my undergraduate degree in economics as well as a certificate in entrepreneurship and innovation. I am planning on taking one course in the summer term as well, to ensure that I am getting ahead. Overall, if my enrollment in classes is approved I am committed to my academic plan and ensure success this semester and going forward. I am aware that this may be a rigorous semester, though I am not wary of taking this on and am very motivated to resume my undergraduate career.
