Dear Dr. Stephenson,
I am petitioning that my course PHYS 316, which was taken in the fall semester of 2022, should be dropped. I experienced an unforeseen and acute health event which directly affected my school work.
The health event affected me for the duration of the fall semester. It included weakness and fatigue, which made it difficult to concentrate on school work, and required me to take many breaks which affected my performance. I sought the help of my family doctor, whose note I have included. My work in my other courses was affected as well, but I dropped several of them and attempted to complete the semester with a part-time course load (3 classes). I thought this course load would be light enough to complete all my courses, but I was mistaken, due to the fact that my condition worsened after the final drop date in the fall. My physical challenges were accompanied by psychological challenges which made completing the course even more difficult, so I sought the help of a psychologist. I have included receipts from the psychologist in the fall semester.
Looking ahead, I plan to finish the course next year. My condition has improved since last semester, and I am planning on graduating next school year. I have greatly reduced the frequency of visits to the psychologist I saw due to this improvement, and my family doctor is confident that the condition is improving. Thank you in advance for your understanding.
Sincerely,
Finley Van Barr
