Dear Academic Associate Dean,
I am petitioning to drop Math 121 after the add/drop deadline and take it off my transcript. I had already been struggling with the course and an extenuating circumstance beyond my control that arose in March has made it very difficult for me to continue and keep up.
This circumstance has affected my life greatly and has made it very difficult for me to focus. It is a challenge for me to get out of bed and start my day, such as leaving my room and going to class as I firstly feel unsafe and secondly do not see the point in anything at the moment. Due to the previous struggles that I have experienced with this course, this incident has made it harder to manage, therefore dropping the course would allow me to focus on the other classes so that I can pass them. I have always struggled with my mental health, making the difficulty of this course adding a lot more stress on me.
I have spoken to an Academic Advisor, my parents, and have been getting support from the SVPR office as well.
In order to get the math credit, I will be taking Math 121 over the upcoming year, 2023/2024.
Regards,
Harsheta Taneja(she/her)
