Petition Letter
Dear Queen’s University Administration,
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to share the difficulties I have been facing due to my anxiety and how it has significantly impacted my academic performance and overall mental well-being. Despite my efforts to seek academic consideration, I did not meet the criteria for qualification, which further heightened my stress and anxiety, ultimately contributing to my poor academic results and compromised mental state.
Anxiety has been a persistent challenge that I have grappled with throughout my academic journey. Its debilitating effects often manifest as excessive worry, difficulty concentrating, and an overwhelming fear of failure.
I’ve additionally been going through the process of applying for citizenship which has presented numerous complexities and demands that have consumed a considerable amount of my time, energy, and emotional well-being. Navigating through the paperwork, fulfilling the requirements, and managing the uncertainty surrounding the outcome of the application has added an immense burden to my daily life. As a result, I have found it increasingly difficult to focus on my studies and maintain the level of academic performance I strive for. The weight of this process has caused heightened stress and anxiety, which has inevitably affected my ability to concentrate on coursework, complete assignments, and prepare for exams effectively. Despite my best efforts to manage the demands of both the citizenship application and my academic responsibilities, the mental and emotional toll has been overwhelming, hindering my ability to perform at my fullest potential. I fully acknowledge my responsibility to prioritize my studies and strive for academic excellence. However, I humbly request your understanding and support as I navigate through this challenging chapter of my life. I believe that sharing this deeply personal struggle will provide you with the context necessary to better understand the difficulties I have faced and the resulting impact on my academic performance.
It is with great vulnerability that I inform you that my brother's incarceration has been a distressing and overwhelming experience for me. The news of my brother's incarceration came as an unexpected blow, and the subsequent emotional turmoil has been incredibly challenging to navigate. Coping with the legal proceedings, family responsibilities, and the impact on our lives has placed an immense strain on me. Unfortunately, despite my best efforts, I have struggled to compartmentalize my personal circumstances, resulting in a significant distraction from my studies and an adverse impact on my academic performance. During this period, I have found it increasingly difficult to maintain a clear and focused mindset necessary for academic success. The constant worries, stress, and emotional upheaval have taken a toll on my mental space, leaving me unable to fully engage with my coursework and perform at the level I know I am capable of achieving. As a result, my grades have suffered, which deeply saddens me and does not reflect my true potential.
I understand that my grades during the first semester did not meet the standards I set for myself or the university's expectations. However, I would like to draw your attention to the significant improvement I achieved in the second semester. Throughout the second semester, I dedicated myself to a more structured and disciplined approach to my studies. I sought guidance from professors, actively participated in class discussions, and utilized additional resources to strengthen my understanding of the subjects. As a result of my increased efforts, my grades improved notably across all my courses, demonstrating my determination and ability to excel academically. I firmly believe that this upward trend in my academic performance reflects my genuine commitment to growth and my capacity to meet the rigorous demands of the university curriculum. Given this positive trajectory, I kindly request that the university administration considers granting me another opportunity to further prove myself and enhance my overall academic standing. I am fully aware of the university's commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for students, and I am genuinely grateful for the resources and opportunities it provides. I am determined to utilize these resources to their fullest potential and work diligently toward achieving my academic goals.
I want to emphasize the utmost importance of the upcoming semester for me. It represents a turning point in my academic journey, where I am determined to showcase my true potential and commitment to growth. I have come to a clear understanding of the path I want to pursue, and I firmly believe that this is my chance to prove myself. While I fully acknowledge the significance of maintaining academic standards, I want to emphasize that if I fail to improve my academic results in the next semester, I am prepared to take the difficult decision of removing myself from the university. However, I genuinely believe that with the support and understanding of the university administration, coupled with my unwavering determination, I can overcome the challenges I have faced and succeed academically.
Taking a year off or stepping away from the university would only serve to deteriorate my motivation and confidence. I am eager to maintain my momentum and utilize all available resources to enhance my academic performance. The support and guidance from the university would be instrumental in helping me achieve my goals and fulfill my potential. I am grateful for the opportunities and resources the university provides, and I am ready to make the most of them. With renewed focus, resilience, and determination, I am confident that I can overcome any obstacles that come my way.
Thank you once again for your time and consideration. Feel free to reach out if any further information or clarification is needed. I hope you may be able to understand my situation, if needed, I am quite open to meeting personally with the administration if any proof or further documentation is needed. I am fully committed to this transformative phase of my academic journey.
