Academic Plan
My Academic plan is as follows.
Currently I am completing 4 courses online during the spring/summer term. If my petition were to be granted, I am requesting to take 4 courses both semesters (fall/winter) as well as the 2024 spring/summer semester to make up for my failed core courses over the last 1.5 years of struggling with my depression and personal circumstances . I Have a meeting with an academic advisor this week (earliest available) to consult on the best specific courses to re-take.
Working with the learning strategist, academic advising and my support system, I believe that not only can I pass but I can also be a meaningful contributor to my courses. After completing those 3 academic semesters I would really love the opportunity to re-apply into the con-ed stream. I have had a very low and dark few years but one thought that has always comforted me despite my poor grades, was that one day I know I could be a teacher. Even if I can not remain in con-ed I still plan to pursue education as a career and I know this hard time in my life will only make me a more compassionate and capable educator.
In conclusion, I believe with my current support system, the steps I have taken to help esure additional support, I will be able to continue a academic career here at Queens. Thank you for your consideration.
