Academic Plan
In order to complete my degree requirements I must complete a course load across four years that adds up to 120.0 units. At the end of my second year, I have completed 60.0 units with a remaining 60.0 needed. My major/minor plan requires me to take 60.0 units in Film & Media and 30.0 in History as well as another 30.0 units worth of electives. I have already taken 24.0 units worth of HIST courses, meaning I only need two more 3.0 unit history courses at the 200 level or above, one of which will be fulfilled in the 2023 fall semester. The other, I plan to take abroad during the 2024 winter semester (HIS21240 at UCD) should it be approved in my ILOP.
For my Film & Media requirements, I need to complete another 24.0 units with various requirements, Core courses- 30.00 required, 18.00 taken, 12.00 needed. 6.0 units from ANMI, FILM at the 400 level or above- 0.0 taken, 6.0 required. 9.0 units from ANIM 200; FILM 206 OR FILM 207; FILM 210; FILM 215; FILM 216; FILM 220; FILM 225; FILM 226; FILM 236; FILM 257- 3.0 taken, 6.0 required. I plan on taking three film courses while away from Queen’s, (FS30200, FS20150, and FS30170 at UCD ) In theory, these would all fit into my required core FILM courses should they be approved in my ILOP.
Of the 30.0 elective units I need, I have taken 15.0 and need another 15.0. So far, this means that I am on track to graduate with 120.0 units at the end of my fourth year of study, I have yet to fail a course and have exercised successful academic practices up to this point, which I intend to continue. Due to the fact that I am only submitting four courses on my ILOP, 20.0 units in the European Transfer Credit System, I am currently enrolled in the summer course HIST 252 at Queen’s in order to supplement the missing course I would normally be taking during the 2024 winter semester, meaning I will have fulfilled 63.0 units before the start of my third year. I also understand that although the courses I submit through my ILOP may be approved, they might not be approved under the constraints of the Film & Media and History programs at Queen’s. If so, the selected courses can all be listed as elective courses that would still contribute to my graduation at the end of my fourth year of study with 120.0 completed units. Should any challenges arise with the fulfilment of my plan, I am fully prepared to take on an inflated course load during the 2023 fall, 2024 summer, 2024 fall, and 2025 winter semesters in order to complete the required units on time. Although, with the courses I have completed thus far, the courses I plan to take at Queen’s in the 2023 fall, 2024 fall, and 2025 winter I am still on track to successfully graduate on time and fulfil my plan.
