Petition Letter
My Name is Danielle Tygesen, and my student number is 20118927. I am writing this letter today to request a late drop of COGS100 in the Summer 2023 term, due to extenuating circumstances. There are two reasons to support my appeal in this. The first, I have been trying to drop this course since May 28th, 2023, which is two days after the drop deadline for the course, however I had been trying to drop it prior to the deadline but was having technical difficulties in doing so. The reason that I am requesting to drop the course is because I had been in the process of determining which courses that I still require for my Bachelor of Computing degree throughout the term, if any. I was unable to get any support from the faculty over the course of a month as I was constantly referred to the solus site where I could see my degree process, as well as sent to four different places to get assistance this. The issue I had with this is that I am a dual degree student and had already completed my Bachelor of Commerce and this was causing confusion in the system. The system was telling me that I had barely completed any of the required courses, which I am aware is not true as I had been a computing student for the past four years. This whole process in combination with starting a new job had put a great deal of stress on myself, which made it extremely difficult to finish the semester. In addition to this, I have had other personal issues with my family that made it almost impossible for myself to complete a course while also working full time. I am requesting to drop this course after the deadline due to these reasons, that I would consider outside of my own control.
