Petition Letter
I am writing you today to appeal the decision of not including LAW201 on my transcript to make me eligible for graduation. I understand that the rule is that Arts & Sciences students are not able to take more than 6.0 units from outside the faculty, but I believe the outline of the Economics plan was the source of my confusion.
In my second year of taking courses at Queen's I took COMM200, and LAW201, knowing those were my 6.0 units from outside my faculty. However, I still needed to satisfy the Options requirement and in my fourth year of studies I took COMM211 thinking since it wasn't an elective and to satisfy an options requirement I would be okay. I checked my academic report multiple times, and it always showed I was at 100% of my plan requirement and never updated to show that I wasn't eligible to graduate until after I completed the course and had applied to graduate.
I am currently working at TD Canada Trust working towards a position where I need my degree to be eligible, and if I need to complete a fall term I will not be able to accept the position.
I am looking for the appeal to include LAW201 on my transcript so I am able to graduate this coming fall.
Thank you for taking the time to consider my appeal. I am eager to complete my degree and pursue my professional career and would like to thank the University for pushing me to be the person I am today.
