Petition Letter
To whom this may concern,
My name is Kiana Naser, and I am in my fourth year of Life Sciences at Queen’s University. I am writing to you to request an appeal to add a course, HSCI 591, to my timetable for this semester. I am submitting this request following a discussion that I had with both Dr. van Staalduinen and Dr. Ward (Associate Director) to be enrolled in the HSCI 591 (F23) and HSCI 593 (W24) courses this year. Although they have given me approval to enrol in the course, they further provided recommendation that I should apply for this appeal to be enrolled.
I have been eager to take HSCI 591/593 ever since I began studying at Queen’s, and notably after doing extensive research in urology this summer. I plan to work with the same supervisor that I worked for this summer, and although I had planned to have the form with his signature submitted to you on time, circumstances arose with my supervisor that rendered him unable to send this form back to me on time. I tried to do everything that I could to expedite the process, but I unfortunately was not able to get the paperwork returned to me on time.
I completely understand that the course addition deadline has passed, but I sincerely hope that you may consider allowing me to enrol in these HSCI courses, as I am deeply motivated to produce a project this year that encapsulates my studies at Queen’s University. I am committed to doing hard work to catch up on all deadlines, including building a contract with my supervisor and preparing my project pitch.
I will attach the enrolment signed by my supervisor and Dr. van Staalduinen within my appeal. I sincerely hope that this will allow me to be enrolled in the course.
I would like to thank you in advance and say that I am truly grateful for your time in reviewing my application and considering me for this appeal. Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any questions or concerns regarding my application.
Warm regards,
Kiana Naser
