Petition Letter
To The Associate Dean of Studies:
I am writing to have two distance-credits transferred onto my Queen's transcript. At the time that I enrolled in these courses (PSYC289 and ENGL125 with Athabasca University), I had no intention of ever transferring them to my transcript with Queen's. I enrolled in these courses to have them as pre-requisites for a Music Therapy program that I applied to at Capilano University. After being accepted to an introductory version of the program, I decided that switching schools was not the right deicision for me yet, and that I would like to continue my studies at Queen's for the remaining three years. I understand that in order to have these credits on my Queen's transcript, I should have completed a request form before enrolling in the afore mentioned courses. However, due to my extenuating circumstances, I was advised that it was an unecessary stress at the time if I had intended to switch to a different institution. Now I understand that I should have taken the time to complete the form, just in case I had a change of heart. Now that I have decided to stay at Queen's, my options have become limited for next year, as I do not have enough credits to declare a major. If my credits are able to be transferred from Athabasca, I hope to be declaring a major in Gender Studies and a minor in music. I shoud also mention that I am still working on my courses with Athabasca, and will have them completed by this June 13th, 2015. As I continue my academic journey with Queen's, I hope to gain the respective pre-requisites to apply to the post-graduate Music Therapy program at Capilano University once again. Thank you for your time and consideration at this busy time of year.
