Petition Letter
November 3 2023 Kimiko Taniishi 10062875
To whom this may concern,
I am writing this letter as a formal request for a credit (CR) standing in ENGL 237 due to an extenuating health circumstance that I faced during the term that resulted in me earning a substantially lower grade. This extenuating health issue affected me more than I had realized at first. In 2016 I was diagnosed with “Reversible Cerebral Vasoconstriction Syndrome” and had a relapse in 2019 and again this last summer term. Due to the onset of RCVS, I was impacted both mentally and physically and was unable to participate and focus in the course to my full potential. I was granted an extension on my final exam and final essay of the course due to this extenuating health circumstance. I also had open communication with Dr. Heather Evans the professor of ENGL 237 about my concerns about my grades in the course and she was beyond helpful in outlining some steps I could possibly take due to my extenuating health circumstance, therefore I am requesting a CR for ENGL 237. I have enclosed my physician's note from the time of my illness which outlines the gap in the course that I had to miss due to my illness.
Thank you for your consideration, should you need any further medical documentation, I can provide it or my care team is listed below.
Sincerely, Kimiko Taniishi
