Petition Letter
Hello there,
My name is Joshua Lu, and I would like to request to have one of my courses dropped past the deadline.
I apologize for the lack of proper documentation in advance, however I have unfortunately contracted COVID-19 twice and have had other COVID-Like symptoms throughout the academic term preventing me from attending in person lectures and as such, have had a difficulty keeping up with my coursework as a result of this. Due to the conditions, I was luckily capable to keeping up with my other courses due to them having recorded lectures or online modules that did not require me to show up in person, however for Anatomy 215, a large amount of the relevant information was only available during in person lectures, this was very troubling for me as I had missed a decent portion of the lectures due to illness (about 6 I would say).
The reason I was unable to submit the request to drop the course prior to the original deadline was due to the amount of midterm exams I had between the 23rd of October and the 4th of November. I had already fallen decently far behind in my studies and had to prepare for the midterms, at the time I was still unsure as to whether or not it would be necessary for me to drop the course. Due to me having a total of 6 examinations (2 of which were for Anatomy 215) within that timeframe, I was unable to submit the drop request until after all the exams were completed. I am also currently attempting to catch up with some of the other courses that I missed due to illness which is why this request has taken some time to submit as well.
I do have plans for the future as well. I plan to retake Anatomy 215 either next term or next year during the 2024/2025 academic year, either that or I will take another course that also fits within my major that is a little less demanding and would allow more flexibility in the case where I fall ill again in the future.
I would also like to note that this is mostly due to my personal issues, Dr. Mackenzie has been a great instructor during the in person lectures and they were very interesting and enjoyable.
I appreciate any time spent reading this request,
Sincerely, Joshua Lu
