Academic Petition Letter
Petition type: Petition for late course drop
December 1, 2023
Good afternoon,
My name is Katarina Fortin student ID #20334256.
I am writing this Academic Petition regarding Spanish 111 in which I was enrolled September 2022 to December 2022.
I contacted your office on June 21st, 2022, to inquire about academic accommodations. I submitted what I thought was sufficient to begin organizing the accommodations necessary for me to work to my full potential.
I thought I was achieving in a satisfactory manner up until I received my first evaluations back from the course, in mid-October approximately. As you can see from my Psych Reports I have both a learning disability and an autism spectrum disorder diagnosis dating from 2012.
My updated Psych Report was completed as soon as I was able and submitted it on November 6, 2022. I heard back from QSAS and met with them on November 24th, 2022 after which accommodations were put in place. Unfortunately, with the course being a three-credit course, I did not have the time to improve my grades above a pass even though I contacted the professor to discuss my options. Due to the delay, I was unsuccessful in Spanish 111. You will note that my success in classes improved greatly second semester once my needed accommodations were put in place.
I kindly request that you accept my Petition for a late course drop for the course Spanish 111.
Thank you for your time & consideration,
Katarina Fortin
