Petition Letter
Dear Sir/Madam
Greetings,
This is a petition for late course drops. I am petitioning to drop all courses I may have on record with Queens in fall 2022 and winter 2023 (details listed at the bottom of this letter). My name is Xinxin(Cynthia) Zhang, my Student ID is: 20326307, Net ID is: 21XZ71. I was one of the applicants applying to Queens University for the academic year of 22/23 (supposed to be the first year of university). I had the honour of receiving both offers from Queens for Smith Commerce and Arts in late April of 2022. (Bachelor of Arts: April 13, 2022; Smith Commerce: May 4, 2022 )
(see pictures of proof on the document page)
But before that, I already received the offer I wanted to accept on April 5, 2022, which I accepted immediately after receiving it. It is a university in London, UK.
(see pictures of proof on the document page)
I have no recollection nor record of accepting any offer from Queens, and I do not see why I should if I already decided to go to another university. I spent a happy summer in Canada and flew to the UK in September. I studied for a year in the UK, achieving great scores in the first year. Went back to China for the summer break and returned to the UK to continue my studies there.
(Picture of my customs seal on my visa at London Heathrow Airport ( Sep 24, 2022, the first time I got there; Sep 20, 2023, returned from break; and my letter of student status at my current university) )
On November 31 2023, I received the terrible news informing me that I have an “overdue tuition fee” at Queens University. I first I thought it was a scam since it was so ridiculous because I never set foot in Queens University all my life. After a lot of confirmation, I finally got informed that I magically had an account with Queens and I was registered with many courses. I was thunderstruck. I did not receive even a SINGLE email relating to this after all this time and had no knowledge of this from the very beginning. I racked my brains trying to figure out why this would happen to me. I personally did not register myself for the program and did not accept any offer from a Canadian school (I received a lot of offers from other universities in Canada too). (Again, the university I am studying at right now is my dream school, and why on earth would I register for another school myself if I already decided where to go?). Whether this is a tech issue or someone somehow used my account to do all these I would never know. I am a hundred per cent the poor victim in this case. I am a very hard-working student who never procrastinates in anything, including paying for tuition. An “overdue tuition fee” never existed in my world. If it does, then it means that I do not know of it.
Check the registers from the school, I did not show up once for a lecture or an exam. I can not help but wonder, why haven’t I received ANY email after all these times, making sure that I am okay, or was reached out to check on my well-being if I indeed was considered a student in Queens. If I had, I am sure this problem would be much easier to fix than it is today.
I need to petition for late course drops for the following courses (information I got from the staff):
Fall 2022 Winter 2023

Thank you for your trouble and time. Thank you for helping.
Kindest Regards
