Petition Letter
To The Academic Associate Dean,
This is Kole Scott. Student ID 20375938
I am petitioning to drop Fall 2022: HLTH 101 and Winter 2023: ECON 110 and ENIN 140. I regrettably was not aware or informed of the course withdrawal process. I also want to let you know that I was shown to enroll in these courses by basketball coach Stephan Barrie. But was not shown or told to withdraw from these courses once he found out I would not be attending the program. I did not receive any notice that I had been enrolled as I could not access any school account or email, so it was almost impossible to be aware of it. Before the start of the fall semester, I informed the basketball coach that I wouldn’t be attending as I had accepted an offer from a school in the United States. After that conversation, I wish I had been informed that I was enrolled and needed to send in an official withdrawal letter. If I hadn’t come back to Ontario over the break, I wouldn’t have known that I was enrolled or owed any tuition. I have been attending a different program and a different school in the USA since the start of the Fall semester of 2022 and plan to finish my program there. I do not understand why I am asked to pay for a full semester that I have not taken any part in. I do hope that we can resolve this matter, as I am an exceptional student & and would be more than willing to succeed & and pay if I had attended even one of the classes but I have not. I do hope that we can come to some advisement, as I am not looking to fraud the system, I was never in these classes, and it seems that it doesn’t make sense to charge a student a full semester who didn’t even know he was enrolled and has never been contacted about a course. This isn’t a matter of not paying for what I owe but correcting the error so I can further succeed in my future studies.
The letter I received in the mail stated the balance owed of $2,788.31 will be sent to collections on January 7th, 2024. If this issue can be revised and solved by then, it would be greatly appreciated as this is completely unfair to a financially struggling young man.
