Academic Plan
In order to complete my degree requirements I must complete a course load across four years that adds up to 120.0 units. At the halfway point of my third year, I have completed 78.0 units with a remaining 42.0 needed. My major/minor plan requires me to take 60.0 units in Film & Media and 30.0 in History as well as another 30.0 units worth of electives. I have already taken 24.0 units worth of HIST courses, meaning I only need two more 3.0 unit history courses at the 200 level or above.I plan to take them both abroad during the 2024 winter semester (HIS21240 at UCD) has been approved through a previously submitted ILOP. I am also submitting the UCD course GRC20280 as part of my history minor plan. The completion of these courses would bring me to 30.0 completed history courses and the completion of my minor requirements.
For my Film & Media requirements, I need to complete another 24.0 units with various requirements, Core courses- 30.00 required, 21.00 taken. ( 9.0 required including 6.0 units from ANMI, FILM at the 400 level or above- 0.0 taken, 6.0 required. 9.0 units from ANIM 200; FILM 206 OR FILM 207; FILM 210; FILM 215; FILM 216; FILM 220; FILM 225; FILM 226; FILM 236; FILM 257- 6.0 taken, 3.0 required.) Option courses- 30.00 required, 18.00 taken. I plan on taking two film courses while away from Queen’s, (FS20230 and FS20140 at UCD ) In theory, these would both fit into my required core FILM courses should they be approved in my ILOP.
Of the 30.0 elective units I need, I have taken 18.0 and need another 12.0, which will be completed during my fourth year of study. With the approval of this ILOP, I will need to take six more FILM courses with various requirements, and four more elective courses, generating two five course semesters, such has been the case for every other year of my studies at Queen’s. So far, this means that I am on track to graduate with 120.0 units at the end of my fourth year of study, I have yet to fail a course and have exercised successful academic practices up to this point, which I intend to continue. I understand that although the courses I submit through my ILOP may be approved, they might not be approved under the constraints of the Film & Media and History programs at Queen’s. If so, the selected courses can all be listed as elective courses that would still contribute to my graduation at the end of my fourth year of study with 120.0 completed units. Should any challenges arise with the fulfilment of my plan, I am fully prepared to take on an inflated course load during the 2024 summer, 2024 fall, and 2025 winter semesters in order to complete the required units on time. Although, with the courses I have completed thus far, the courses I plan to take at UCD in winter 2024, and at Queen’s in the 2024 fall, and 2025 winter semesters I am still on track to successfully graduate on time and fulfil my plan.
