The reason for this late petition stems from the recent revelation on January 22nd that I had failed a course from the fall semester. Unfortunately, this information was only made available to me on that date, preventing me from taking immediate action at the commencement of the winter semester to rectify the missed credit.
Given that I am in my fourth year and scheduled to graduate in June, it is imperative that I fulfill this outstanding French credit worth 3.00 units. I have already sought and obtained approval from Professor Rouget to join his course, FREN304, and have familiarized myself with the syllabus and required readings. Additionally, I have liaised with classmates who graciously shared their class notes from weeks 1 and 2, ensuring that I am now current with the material.
To further support my case, I have met with Professor Lefort-Favreau, the undergraduate chair of French studies, who expressed his approval and support for my inclusion in this course.
Simultaneously, I am petitioning to enroll in a seventh ArtSci course, acknowledging the potential workload implications. Recognizing the gravity of this undertaking, I assure you of my full commitment to successfully navigate this course load. I am prepared to dedicate my time exclusively to classes and schoolwork, having no other work or extracurricular commitments this semester.
I would like to bring to your attention that, although I currently lack recent medical documentation, I possess a doctor's note from the previous semester. This document attests to the necessity for me to write my FREN498 exam ahead of schedule, citing the substantial impact of the situation in Israel on both myself and my family. It is pertinent to mention that this circumstance significantly contributed to the challenges I faced in FREN394, the course in which I unfortunately experienced academic difficulties and ultimately failed.
I kindly request your understanding and support in granting permission for the late addition of the French course and approval for the seventh ArtSci course. Your consideration in this matter is highly appreciated.
