Petition Letter
To the Associate Dean,
I am petitioning to drop POLS 285 and take ECON 250. Due to poor study habits, stress and not taking full advantage of the resources available to me, I failed STATS 263. I registered for POLS 285 to achieve my statistics credits and replace the failed class from before. After speaking to the Economics department, it came to my attention that I cannot use that class towards my degree and need to take ECON 250. I would like to register for this class now. I know that I could take it next fall, but I also failed ECON 212 and 222. I am planning to repeat them over the summer and in the fall, but adding statistics to this will be too overwhelming. The only other way to do this would be to take a fifth year to finish. However, my family cannot afford this as the only support I have is a single mother. My brother is starting university in a year and having me in school for another would be too much of a financial burden for me and my mother. This is my mess to sort out and I cannot any more strain on my family than I already have, so if I can take this class this winter, I think I can catch up and still graduate on time.
